Corporate

Dear Corporate Representative,

Each year, the nation salutes engineering achievement through National Engineers Week, a week-long celebration that is dedicated to “increasing understanding of and interest in engineering." The Engineering Council at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is thus proud to present Engineers Week 2009, to be held February 13th–21st, to its community of more than 40,000 scholars. With a multitude of popular events planned throughout the week, ranging from the lighthearted Paper Airplane Contest or Halo Tournament to the more serious Order of the Engineer Ceremony, Engineers Week 2009 will highlight the engineering spirit of the more than 8,000 engineers on campus.

The Engineering Council is the premier student organization under the College of Engineering at Illinois. Year after year, the Council works towards the growth of Engineers Week in both the breadth of events offered and the level of community involvement. Last year, Engineers Week 2008 demonstrated the success of those efforts with its expanded student interest, including the participation of twenty various engineering societies and independent student teams. The E-Week website itself garnered 6,500 visitors, as students clamored to vote online for the "Biggest Nerd" and "Most Likely to Succeed," a few of the "unofficial" E-Week awards. Other successes included Cheap Lunch, which sold out all five days that the lunches were offered, and the E-week T-shirt giveaway, where 1,000 eager engineering students quickly depleted the stock of shirts within the first day.

Using the momentum and enthusiasm from E-Week 2008, we aspire to build Engineers Week 2009 above and beyond the scope of previous years. However, the nature of this growth requires your involvement and financial support. Student-corporate relations are an important part of the spirit of E-Week, and we hope that you will take this opportunity to interact more with our students while being a part of a rapidly growing tradition here at the University of Illinois.

Described below are Engineers Week sponsorship opportunities that will provide the largest exposure for your company amongst the most active engineering students at Illinois. The Engineering Council has a history of excellent corporate relations, and our partnership with you will serve to mutually benefit our identical aims: to inspire and further the spirit of engineering in the students at this University so that they may develop into the talented engineers of tomorrow.

Sincerely,
